Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.- Nelson Mandela.
Building a complete Education Center for orphaned and semi-orphaned children in Uganda – that is our vision!
A warm welcome to our web pages!
We are a charitable organisation that supports children, youth and families in need in Bwikhasa Village in the Eastern Region of Uganda.
"Kwa moyo" is Swahili language and means "with heart". Thus it cannot be translated verbally, as the word "moyo" also stands for "soul/spirit" or "feeling".
We are very pleased about the opportunity to introduce you to our organisation and to acquaint you with our work and our aims.
Together with our Ugandan friends we have investigated and held many conversations with the local people about whether and how our vision could be implemented into a concrete project in Uganda. The German organisation was founded in Steinweiler on January 13th , 2013.
The Ugandan organisation was founded as a Community Based Organisation (CBO) in Kampala on April 13th, 2013. In 2015 „Kwa Moyo Limited“ was founded by four German and four Ugandan ladies. Kwa Moyo Ltd“ is legally equated with the German union and enables us to work all over Uganda.
We were able to acquire a plot of 30,000 sqm in Bwikhasa Village.
This is where a nursery and a primary school for needy children is being built.
Our pupils´ mothers have united in the „Kwa Moyo Ladies Group“. Workshops about several topics and income-producing measures shall help them to facilitate their families not only financially.
We are frequently organizing workshops for the community´s inhabitants, for instance about topics like hygiene and sanitation, family planning, health care (including HIV/Aids prevention), improvement of cultivating and nurturing of agricultural products.
The unemployment rate in “our” community is more than 90percent, and there are almost no opportunities for the youth. This is why a group of young people approached us asking for support at the end of 2016. A number of 69 youngsters aged between 14 and 23 years united to form “KYODA”, the Kwa Moyo Youth Development Associaton. Initially, the boys founded a football team that participates in local tournaments, while the girls played net ball. Meanwhile, several groups have been established such as hair dressing, arts and crafts, public relation and drama. The boys and girls of the drama group are putting on plays that are raising awareness for their problems.
We are also organizing workshops for KYODA in order to open up new vistas to the young people.
The map below gives a picture of what has already been built on our premises, and what is still to come into existence.
